Matsui and Ichiro Meet Again.

It's tough being a Yankee fan when you don't live in New York.
So many people hate my team simply for the fact that they've been so successful over the past hundred years. Hard to imagine a team being hated for being good, but it happens.

Well, The Bronx Bombers have been having a disappointing season this year and all the Yankee-haters love to rub it in. My Yankees lost four in a row last week against Tampa Bay and Oakland, but bounced back on Saturday to begin their first 3 game winning streak of 2005.

They won a nailbiter tonight against Seattle. The final score was 4-3...too close.

Of course, the Japanese media were out in full force since Ichiro and Matsui were playing on the same field. Ichiro had a pretty good with a few nicely placed base hits, but Matsui is still in a slump. He looked pretty angry after his final strike-out.

There are two more games to go in the series against Seattle. Maybe Matsui will be able to get something done for a change.

Johnny Ramone 1948-2004

johnny01.jpg
Johnny Ramone, guitarist and founding member of one of the most influential rock bands in the history of music, recently received a statue in his memory at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

The statue, which is located just a few steps from where bandmate Dee Dee Ramone is buried, was unveiled by Johnny's wife, Linda.

Also in attendance during the ceremony were Johnny's closest friends, including surviving Ramones members Tommy and C.J., actor Nicholas Cage, Lisa Marie Presley, Rob Zombie, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, and John Frusciante from The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

After hearing about Johnny's death on September 15, 2004, I wrote a short article about him for The Daily Gamecock newspaper:

Grandfather of Punk was a Republican

"If a man can judge success by how many great friends he has, then I have been very successful." - Johnny Ramone

Welcome to PhotoType

Welcome to the first entry in "PhotoType", my new weblog.

I had a similar blog on a different server, but my wife suggested I move over to Seesaa since my old one was sort of primitive. She's been running a cooking blog here for quite some time now. Hell, even our cat has a blog on Seesaa.

I found a website the other day that I really love. It's an online art project where people anonymously mail in their secrets on one side of a homemade postcard to be published on the site.

Some of the secrets are hilariously funny, while others are deathly serious and might even inspire a tear a two.

Go to PostSecret to check them out for yourself.
